The Next Clinic to be held at IB Stables will be a Colt Starting clinic. This will be a two day clinic starting Saturday March 10th and ending Sunday March 11th. Audra and I will be presenting this clinic together along with guest speaker, DVM Bruce McDavitt. Our goal for this clinic is to show over the course of a weekend how "colt starting" is a process that begins the moment a horse is born. We will start on Saturday with our new borns and explain the imprinting process that every foal born on our farm goes through. Then we will take you through the process of halter breaking, teaching them to lead, desensitizing / sensitizing, lounging and ground work that we do with them as weanlings and yearlings. Sunday we will be working with Two year olds who have never been saddled and show you how to make their first ride a success. In addition we will also have other colt at various stages of training to show the progression we expect them to follow. Dr. McDavitt will be making a presentation on the importance of proper dental and hoof care of young horses. He will also be available for any questions regarding equine health care as well as the importance of working with your young colts. Although this is an audit only clinic we intend to make it as hands on as possible and want to invite participants to join in with the new borns after an explanation of the process. Everyone is welcome to come, but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
This clinic is $125 for both days or $75 one. Additional family members will be allowed for only $20 a day. Lunch is included providing you RSVP by Wednesday, February 29th.
