The National/World Championships becomes our home for nearly three weeks every year.
Here are a few pictures of our trip to Jackson, Ms. this year.

We had a great spot on the main isleway. There was a nice breeze most of the time. The dogs travel with us too. They keep strangers out of our tack rooms.
Nationals is like a large family reunion every year. We talk to all of our old friends and make new ones. We work hard and play hard.
|
It is hard to get good help these days. Shelli was sleeping on the job. We get inventive some times to do what needs to be done.
This was the Thoman family's first National. I don't think it will be their last. Shelli and Fallon helped with chores and fit right in with the gang. Fallon had two sets of grandparents come to watch her ride.

Rose helping with the last minute touches on Fallon's hair before her class on Rusty.
Part of the fun at Nationals is the fashion and dressing up for the events. Everyone goes all out for the Judges -attention grabbing outfits. Iris designed this one for Fallon.

This one is a little blurry but it catches the special moment of Fallon recieveing her rewards for her hard work.
Fallon was top three in several of her events. She works very hard and rides 4- 6 times per week. She even helps exercise extra horses other than her own to gain more experience.

Washing horses
Even the work can be fun. Washing horses was one way to cool down in the July heat.

Hannah Huq and Fallon Thoman.
We all work together and help each other prepare for events at the shows. The girls are warming up their speed horses. Both girls ended up third over all with their speed horses in their respective age groups.

Hannah and Ima Classy Chip
Hannah and Lucy are a lovely pair in the Western Pleasure classes. We allow Lucy to enjoy her job as a western pleasure horse and she comes back year after year with nice expression and attitude.

Hannah and Lucy in the Trail class.
The trail class is a great event to develope higher skill levels for the horse and rider. Hannah enjoys learning about how Lucy thinks and communicating with her in ways that Lucy can understand.
|
Bobbie Sue McLaughlin and Ought Be A Breeze
Boobie Sue is Hannah's grandmother. She has ridden since childhood and enjoys the shows and sharing the love of horses with her ganddaughter.

John McLaughlin holding Roxie
John is Hannah's grandfather. John doesn't ride but is totally supportive of Bobbie Sue and Hannah. He tries to keep the dogs out of trouble. He owns an attack cat, ask him about it sometime.

Audra putting in Lucy's tail
The horses wear wigs too. Every hair must be in place.

Banding Manes
We had an assembly line going at times to prepare up to five horses at one time.

Iris and Audra working horses
We all had a great time in Jackson. Hope to see those that didn't come this year, next year. It was a nice show.
